Big Island Kailua Kona Golf at Na Hale O Keauhou

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

When staying at the beautiful and private Na Hale O Keauhou resort and more specifically at the beautiful luxury ocean view Na Hale O Keauhou L-4 town home great Championship golf is just a short distance away.  The Kona Country Club is just across the street and the club house is a short drive or walk away.  The Kona Country Club offers two championship courses, the Ocean course and the Mountain course.

The Ocean course is set along the beautiful pacific ocean and offers beautiful ocean views as you play your round of golf.  During November to March you can even whale watch from the fairways.  The Ocean course is a par 72, 6748 yard course with a slope rating of 129 to challenge your golf skills.

The Mountain course is set on the hillside above the Ocean course in a slightly cooler setting with lush flora and fauna abounding which includes wild Hawaiian goats and lush bougainvillea.  You will also see unbelievable panoramic Pacific ocean views as you play the Mountain course.  The mountain course is a par 72, 6634 yard course with a slope rating of 135 to really challenge your golf skills.

When staying at Na Hale O Keauhou L-4 you can enjoy a great game of golf and be back home in almost no time to enjoy an after golf swim, a cocktail or just sit on the ocean view lanai and enjoy the view.  If you want to make a tee time to play at the Kona Country club you can call the course directly or you can save money by going to www.teetimeshawaii.com .  Either way you will have a great time filling your need for golf while staying at Na Hale O Keauhou L-4.

Walk from your Kona Condo to Snorkeling at Kahaluu Beach Park

Monday, December 15th, 2008

One of the best places that I’ve snorkeled in Hawaii is at Kahaluu Beach Park in Kona.

Only 4 miles south of the center of Kailua-Kona this park used the be the playground of the Hawaiian Royalty – including four kings that lived only 1/8 of a mile away!

One of the reasons that they liked it here so much is because of the wonderfully protected beach and hundreds of fish that you’ll find in the shallow, calm waters.  And there are so many turtles here that you really have to watch your step getting in and out of the water!  No wonder the nickname for the park is Turtle Beach.

Recently (2006-2007) there was a new development of luxury Kona condos built right across the street called The Beach Villas at Kahaluu. These luxurious condos make the joy of spending time at Kahalu’u Beach Park so convenient.  You just have to grab your snorkel gear and towel and cross the street to hang out with the fish and turtles.  And if you’ve forgotten your sunblock, it’s only a 1 minute walk back to your condo!

I really recommend this place for those vacation renters that want to maximize their vacation time interacting with the beautiful creatures of the sea.
