Hanalei Bay Resort – Restaurant to reopen

Oh, I just found out some more inside information that not only is the Happy Talk Lounge to reopen at Hanalei Bay Resort, but the restaurant will be opening too. The restaurant is scheduled to open sometime in January, though no exact date has been given. As soon as I find out I’ll publish the date. This is great news. Previously, the former Bali Hai restaurant occupied the space. The views and food was fantastic! We are looking forward to the new restaurant and what it has to offer. Between the reopening of the bar and restaurant, looks like HBR is positioning itself for a comeback.

Happy Talk did not reopen on the 20th and because the health inspector hasn’t finished with his inspection the reopening date is still not certain. The new owners are in the process of refinishing the bar, some new equipment needed to be purchased and the inspections completed.

Big Blue Tarps with the words “Closed Indefinately” have just gone up in front of the restaurant at the Hanalei Bay Resort.
The new owners of the restaurant – Celebrity Resorts – don’t seem to be too interested in opening the restaurant anytime soon.

The blue tarps are down. The new owners were in violation of the house rules and regulations and were notified by the AOAO to remove them.
The bar is going to reopen as soon as the liquor licensing problems gets cleared up. New equipment has been bought for the kitchen and is on the way.
It is my belief that it will be long time before we see the restaurant get going but the HTL will serve food all day. In this economy it must be difficult for the new owners to decide to put more money into the restaurant. I say this is too bad with few options on the North Shore, but it isn’t my money.

No, they are both still closed.
There is no date for when they are going to reopen.

We are going to be at the resort from May 9-May 16. Is there any word that the Happy Talk will be open?

It’s very unlikely that the Happy Talk will be open in May. If there is a change and the lounge opens, I’ll post it here.

Any update on HTL and/or Bali Hai?

The restaurant and lounge are still closed. Celebrity Resorts (the owner of the lounge and restaurant) hasn’t given a date of opening.
Celebrity Resorts said last year that it was going to reopen in January – not true.
Celebrity Resorts representatives at the HBR owner’s meeting in early May 2009 said that the lounge may open in 30 days – also not true.
We will post on the Aloha Condos website when/if either of them opens for business and until you see posts indicating this, assume that they are both still closed.

Rumor has it that the Happy Talk Lounge at the Hanalei Bay Resort is going to be opening in July. I’ll post on the Aloha Condos blog when/if it happens.
