A Coffee Lover’s Paradise

Some people go on holiday to relax with sun, sea and sand. For others, relaxation doesn’t begin to happen until after that first morning cup of coffee. If you’re among those people and you’d like that coffee to be something really special, Kona vacations could be the thing for you.

People tend to think of vacations in Hawaii as being all about hula dancing, surfing and enjoying the tropical sun, but there are other things going on on these beautiful Pacific islands, and among them is coffee production.

The slopes of Mount Kona are famed worldwide for the delicious coffee they produce, but you’ll have to visit the source to understand the secret of its rich aroma. Hawaii is full of coffee bars and kiosks where you can purchase coffee made from beans which have only just been harvested. The taste of coffee which has traveled can never rival this.

Kona is proud of its coffee production and each November a coffee cultural festival is held at venues across the island. This includes tastings, workshops on the proper production of coffee, and a competition to find the best coffee farm on the island.

There’s also a Miss Kona Coffee beauty pageant, plus torch lit parades, art and craft exhibitions and concerts. When you wear a festival button you’ll find that there’s free coffee for you to drink everywhere, and the scent of coffee competes with the scent of flowers in the island air.

Unlike most other island goods, coffee is something which you can legally take back from your Kona vacation, so you’ll have souvenirs you can enjoy all year round. There’s nothing quite like being there, however, and once you’ve tasted Kona coffee at its point of origin you’ll always want to return.

What better way to relax than out on the golden sand, beside the wide blue sea, with a freshly brewed cup of island coffee in your hand?
